Transparency and Accountability
Leduc needs to see significant change in how we govern and operate. The culture within our city government and operations has to be safe for all residents and staff, while minimizing bureaucratic interference. In recent years, many Leduc residents have experienced or heard about the atrocities that were committed within city departments and covered up. If elected to City Council, I would put forward initiatives that change the current culture within the City of Leduc Administration, staff and City Council.
It is the responsibility of Council to lead by example and to hold anyone accountable for actions or inactions that cause harm.

Safe Community
There are many issues that contribute to a safe community for everyone. Our kids, teens, adults, and seniors, need timely and responsive action, not more reports or consultants.
I’m happy to hear any ideas you may have on building a safer community.
I think Leduc needs:
A) Bylaws that support policing and patrolling to help reduce property theft and harm.
B) Actionable plans and resources regarding unhoused individuals AND the issues that have arisen.
C) Safer skate park and recreation areas.
I’ve already taken action and have spoken with RCMP and citizens on possible strategies long term and short term to create a safer skate park. Some ideas that are in the works are:
- Revoking access to those who chose to conduct illegal activities on skate park premises.
- Creating a live stream video surveillance so that RCMP and parents are able to view live what is going on at the skate park.

Improve Efficiency and Sustainable Growth
The City of Leduc continues to grow at an extremely fast rate and this presents some challenges for our community. Here are some of the issues that I’ve heard from citizens that I am passionate about working on solutions for:
A) Planning for Logical and Necessary Facilities Infrastructure - Many sports organizations that I’ve met with have indicated that Sport and Leisure infrastructure is getting behind and many local athletes are traveling to other jurisdictions to compete. As a local Sports enthusiast and health practitioner, sport and leisure infrastructure are very important to me.
As a society we are healthier physically and mentally when we are active and moving. Many clubs and programs in our City are struggling to find space such as Scouts, Girl Guides and Air Cadets. I have also heard from residents about their frustration in seeing the same infrastructure torn up and replaced repeatedly or seeing little change. (Ex. Downtown, Black/Gold Dr., Hwy 39 west entry into Leduc, 50 Ave between Hwy2 and the Leduc Common).
Citizens want their tax dollars spent responsibly. As a business owner, I understand the value of fiscal responsibility.
B) City Transit- As our city grows so will the need for public transit. We need to optimize our resources as we are not able to move to full-time city transit currently. Improved efficiency will be important to see the maximum return for our investments in city transit. I’ve also heard citizens would like to have the ability to bring their bike on public Transit, specifically when using transit to transfer to Edmonton.
C) Collaborative Not-for Profit Utilization- One of the best resources in Leduc is our amazing volunteers and not for profit organizations. These organizations provide much needed services to citizens in our community. I would like to see policy shaped that streamline the bureaucratic process allowing not for profits to spend more time on the front lines providing services and making a difference instead of dealing with City Administration.
With Leduc’s population projected to rise 1000 people per year for the next 20 years, it is important we manage our resources and tax dollars while supporting our infrastructure to sustain this significant population growth. I welcome any concerns or suggestions as we manage this growth in our community.

Invest and Provide Safe Space for our Youth
Did you know Leduc is the only community in the surrounding area without a youth centre?
Even much smaller communities such as Millet, Ponoka and Wetaskiwin all have youth centres.
As young people today face increased challenges it’s important to have refuge from adverse environments, giving them a secure, judgement-free space for growth. Through arts, sports, leadership workshops, and vocational training, youth centres help teens discover their talents, build confidence, and develop essential life skills like teamwork and financial literacy. By engaging youth in structured programs, centres reduce participation in risky behaviors like substance abuse and delinquency.
In the UK, one analysis estimated youth work contributes £5.7 billion in direct and £3.2 billion in indirect economic value due to better health and reduced crime.
For the past 8 years I have helped raise funds, awareness and lobby our local government to build a youth centre in Leduc. Instead, the current City Council decided to decrease funding by 30% to the Boys and Girls Club of Leduc (BGC Leduc) over the past 3 years. Thanks to our dedicated group at the BGC Leduc we have been able to lean into our local business community and the response has reinforced that our community wants to invest in our youth.
I believe Leduc City Council needs to:
A)Commit to building a Youth Centre in Leduc- This would promote healthier youth by providing a safe space for programming and would provide the social infrastructure so desperately needed.
B) Growth in collaborative programming in our city. An example of this would be the pilot program by BGC Leduc at Willow Park School where students were able to visit Planeview Manor and form friendships with the residents there. Not only did it create a more fulfilling experience for both the students and seniors but allowed for generation knowledge transfer. A chance for our young people to learn about our history. Amazing!

Build Positive Relationships
I believe positive relationships lead to better communication, better collaboration and better outcomes. I feel many citizens (including myself) have felt ignored or disregarded having emails gone unanswered or phone calls ignored. If elected I would like to see that changed.
With improved communication:
A) Businesses and citizens would be better informed about future construction plans that would impact them.
B) Citizens would attend more events and have a better understanding about new initiatives such as naturalization, speed limit changes or upcoming bylaw changes.
C) Improved internal communication would also improve efficiencies and minimize extra costs due to oversight.
I would also continue to positively promoting Leduc to external stakeholders such as the County of Leduc, our provincial and federal governments, Global Edmonton and other surrounding communities within the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
